SHELTON, CT -- 02/13/08 --
CYA Technologies, the leading provider of
complete granular recovery solutions for enterprise content management
(ECM) systems, today announced the availability of its Data Integrity
Service offering for users of EMC Documentum and IBM FileNet P8 ECM
systems.
The new Data Integrity Service identifies and rectifies the broken
relationships (corruption) that typically exist in ECM repositories between
content and its associated metadata (audit trails, digital signatures,
workflows, etc.). These corruptions can be caused by any number of common
incidents including user, administrative, or logical errors, malfeasance,
viruses, incorrect configurations of customized objects, and application
failures. CYA estimates that it finds corruption within 80 percent of the
ECM systems it works with during product deployments.
Identifying ECM system corruption is accomplished with CYA's Data Integrity
Module, which scans the repository and produces a report documenting all
inconsistencies. To rectify the corruptions, CYA ECM experts with extensive
knowledge of the system's underlying metadata schema conduct an in-depth
analysis using the report output, and then work closely with the client to
develop and execute an effective corruption remediation plan.
It's important to proactively identify and correct corruptions with ECM
repositories because failure to do so can result in serious negative
consequences, costing businesses significant amounts of time and money. For
example:
-- Corruptions can put organizations in non-compliance with multiple
industry and government regulations requiring the preservation of
information in its original state, such as Sarbanes-Oxley, SEC 17a-4, and
FDA CFR Part 11.
-- Companies involved in lawsuits that are unable to produce documents
and their associated audit trails in their original state as required by
the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure eDiscovery amendment risk stiff fines
and negative brand exposure.
-- When users try to access information that has been corrupted,
companies suffer lost productivity and the loss of potential revenue.
In addition, the CYA Data Integrity Service can help ensure a successful,
efficient ECM system migration (i.e. from Documentum 5 to Documentum 6, or
FileNet P8 3 to FileNet P8 4) by correcting any repository corruptions
prior to the migration. These corruptions, if left uncorrected, can halt
migration scripts, causing delays and lost productivity.
"Proactively correcting ECM repository corruption is an extremely important
but often overlooked part of a comprehensive information protection
strategy," said Mike Fernandes, director, product management and services
of CYA Technologies. "Most of the time, corruptions aren't discovered until
the affected information is needed -- for example, during a legal
proceeding or audit. Our new Data Integrity Service makes it easy for
organizations to avoid falling victim to the consequences of inaccessible
information."
