NEW YORK - (Business Wire) Cosmopolitan Magazine is partnering with Maybelline New York and the United Service Organizations (USO) to collect and deliver “Kisses for the Troops.” On Wednesday, November 11th (Veterans Day), the Cosmo Kisses for the Troops Van will visit various spots in New York City with a military escort and uniformed personnel; consumers will be able to kiss a postcard, which will ultimately be delivered to servicemen overseas. Cosmopolitan and Maybelline will donate one dollar for each kiss collected to the USO. In addition, all kisses collected between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. that day will be counted towards setting a brand new Guinness World Record for the most lip prints collected in 12 hours. “Cosmo readers are enthusiastic kissers and what better way to put their talents to use than to send some love to our brave troops serving overseas,” says Donna Kalajian Lagani, publisher, Cosmopolitan. “We’re excited to be working with Maybelline to help the troops, set the world record and support the amazing work that the USO does.”
“We are huge supporters of any initiative to give back to military service members and are especially excited to be partnering with Cosmo to send kisses to our brave troops overseas,” says Brian Whiting, Executive Director, USO. “Sending notes of encouragement and support to the troops may seem like a small gesture but is actually a huge morale booster for troops stationed far from home. We’re sure that our service members will appreciate these ‘love notes’ from Cosmo’s readers.”
Maybelline New York will be providing various shades of Color Sensational lipstick in the Cosmo Kisses for the Troops Van to create the lip prints.
"We’re thrilled to be partnering with Cosmo on this sensational event which happens to be in our home town! We couldn’t be more proud to support the wonderful work the USO does and lighten our troops’ hearts with some kisses from back home and Maybelline New York's Color Sensational lip color,” says David Greenberg, President, Maybelline New York.
Anyone outside of New York who wishes to donate a kiss for the troops can visit http://cosmopolitan.com/cosmo-kisses and follow instructions for creating and sending in a kissed postcard. All kisses collected will be delivered to troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan just in time for New Year’s Eve.
