MOORPARK, Calif. - (Business Wire) With shovel in hand, Moorpark officials and community representatives today joined Mayor Patrick Hunter and Pardee Homes Vice President Jim Bizzelle in breaking ground for a new community park in the Moorpark Highlands area of the city.
Mammoth Highlands Park, the city’s 17th community park when completed next year, is designed to accommodate a variety of desirable activities, with a multi-use athletic field, children’s play areas, a basketball court and tennis court, and a covered pavilion. Further enhancing the seven-acre park’s design are picnic tables with barbecues, seating areas, pedestrian paths and restrooms.
“I am pleased to see Pardee Homes’ commitment to providing the residents of Moorpark Highlands with this new public park,” Hunter said. “As Moorpark’s 17th park, the construction of Mammoth Highlands underscores the City’s dedication to providing residents with safe recreation and open space resources.”
Bizzelle applauded the partnership between Pardee Homes and the City of Moorpark to secure approvals and initiate park construction. “This will be an important new public park for Moorpark Highlands and other area residents,” Bizzelle said. “It will be an important centerpiece of this family-oriented, master-planned community and will further exemplify the family-friendly community that all of us here today strive to achieve.”
Moorpark Highlands is Pardee Homes’ 400+ acres, award-winning master-planned community in the foothills of east Ventura County. The community also includes one existing and one planned recreation center. “Mammoth Highlands Park will complement the scenic, rural ambience that has drawn homebuyers to this community, and it will bring significant enrichment to the Moorpark Highlands lifestyle,” Bizzelle said. “We are delighted to see work begin on the new park.”
Mary Lindley, Moorpark’s parks, recreation and community services director, said the City places a high value on developing family-oriented parks and open space to meet the recreation needs of Moorpark residents. “We were pleased with our work with Pardee Homes and look forward to opening this exceptional new park,” she said. “The City of Moorpark continues to offer residents a large, diverse amount of recreational opportunities.”
