Giant Tiger customers will help local children in need while saving money on Back-to-School clothing and footwear purchases by using special online coupons from August 21 to 27, 2008.
Each time a five-dollar online coupon is used for the purchase of $25 or more of children's clothing or footwear at any Giant Tiger store, Giant Tiger will donate $5 to area food banks, many of which handle clothing needs.
"Rising gas, fuel and food prices are putting more pressure on families with children, particularly those with low-incomes. We think helping children in need by supporting food banks across Canada is the right thing to do," says Jeff York, President and COO of Giant Tiger Stores Limited.
"Giant Tiger's assistance will help us ensure local children are properly clothed and fed," says Peter Tilley, Executive Director of the Ottawa Food Bank. "By meeting these basic needs we can help children do well in school, which is a vital step to a bright future for them."
The Ottawa Food Bank is one of the many food and clothing assistance organizations from coast-to-coast in Canada that will receive financial support when Giant Tiger customers redeem qualifying online Back-to-School coupons. In the traditional grass roots spirit of Giant Tiger, each Giant Tiger store will present a Giant Tiger gift card to an assistance program serving their local community for an amount determined by the number of coupons redeemed at their store.
The Back-to-School coupons are available online at gtboutique.com. These coupons discount customer's purchases on children's clothing just in time for the back to school rush.
