CLEVELAND - (Business Wire) Twice in the past week, Dan Gilbert has cancelled scheduled television appearances to debate the merits of Issue 3. On Friday, October 23rd, Mr. Gilbert backed out of a television appearance at the last minute citing a travel conflict. Mr. Gilbert was also scheduled to make an appearance on Monday, October 26th to debate his position on Issue 3 at Kent State University. Once again, he backed out at the last minute. His spokesperson, Dennis Eckart, stated Mr. Gilbert reportedly was fighting a serious flu virus. One day later, Mr. Gilbert made a presentation to a group of season ticket holders at the Quicken Loans Arena. Witnesses noted Mr. Gilbert appeared to be in perfect health with a strong voice and no indication of any flu-like symptoms. Ohio Roundtable Vice-President, Rob Walgate, who was scheduled to debate Mr. Gilbert on Monday, was in attendance for the Cavaliers presentation. “We are glad to see Mr. Gilbert was able to quickly recover from his serious illness. We hope he will now honor his word and reschedule the debates so the KSU students, major media and people of Ohio can hear his defense of Issue 3. Since he is going to make the most money from Issue 3, it only stands to reason he should talk to the people of Ohio. The Roundtable will be happy to host and pay for a rescheduled debate.” Walgate noted that Mr. Gilbert is apparently not a registered voter in Ohio and cannot vote on the constitutional amendment he is bankrolling. “It seems especially important that Mr. Gilbert should explain why the people of Ohio should turn their Constitution over to someone who apparently is not able to vote in this state.” The Roundtable has helped lead successful campaigns against expanded gambling in Ohio in 1990, 1996, 2006 and 2008. The Ohio Roundtable, a division of the American Policy Roundtable, is a non-profit, non-partisan public policy organization founded in 1980. The Ohio Roundtable Rachel Halleland, 440-572-1796
