The Community Action Team headed by Justin Rudd held their annual pageant at The Grand Long Beach Event Center on Sunday November 15th and crowned Tara Hooper, Mrs. Southern California 2010.

Carlsbad, CA (PRWEB) November 24, 2009 -- In a glamorous event held at The Grand Long Beach Event Center on Sunday November 15th, the Community Action Team crowned Tara Hooper, Mrs. Southern California 2010. The pageant is headed by community activist, pageant director, emcee, and judge, Justin Rudd. The proceeds from the event benefit his nonprofit 501c3 Community Action Team, which produces approx. 35 annual events that benefit animals, youth, and the environment.

Tara Hooper is a native of North San Diego County and runs a successful Hair Studio in Carlsbad. In addition to being a wife, mother of one, homemaker, and business entrepreneur, Tara devotes her spare time to making a difference in her community.

"I still can't believe I was crowned Mrs. Southern California 2010, said Tara Hooper, "What an honor to be part of a Justin Rudd Production. The venue was chic, fab and glitz. Photographers were everywhere, and I felt famous even if it was just for the evening. But the best part is I get to help promote the causes that are important to me."

Giving back to the community is at the heart of competing for Tara. As Mrs. Southern California she will expand her volunteer efforts on behalf of the Foundation for Women by promoting her "Purple for Prosperity" program.

On December 17th at Carlsbad High School, Tara will be launching her first Purple for Prosperity campaign, "Show that you care & wear purple in your hair!" A simple yet effective way to create awareness and raise funds by making a $10 donation that gets you a purple hair extension. The proceeds will be shared with the Women's Outreach Club at Carlsbad High School. Tara's goal is to take this campaign to campuses all across Southern California.

Hoping to share her message with a wider audience, Tara will be representing her community at the Mrs. California United States pageant to be held May 1, 2010.

"I owe a huge thanks to my husband Jeff Hooper", continued Tara, "without his tremendous love and encouragement I could not succeed."

Tara will also be appearing in the La Jolla Christmas Parade on Dec 6th http://ljparade.com/ and the Belmont Shores Christmas Parade in Long Beach on Dec 5th.

As a former Miss Fallbrook 1982, Tara is excited to be helping judge the Miss Fallbrook Pageant on April 17, 2010.
