MCLEAN, Va. - (Business Wire) Capital One Financial Corporation (NYSE:COF) is proud to be recognized by DiversityInc Magazine as one of the 2008 Top 50 Companies for Diversity.

The annual DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity® competition, now in its eighth year, is the largest ranking of its kind. The list is determined through a comprehensive survey of corporate diversity management across four key categories. To be considered one of the Top 50 companies, Capital One demonstrated consistent strength in CEO Commitment, Human Capital, Corporate and Organizational Communications, and Supplier Diversity.

Being recognized by DiversityInc for Capital Ones inclusive environment that values and supports diversity is a great honor, said Matt Schuyler, Chief Human Resources Officer at Capital One. The diverse perspectives, backgrounds and experiences of our associates directly reflect the customers and communities we serve. That diversity, combined with shared vision and goals, is an invaluable asset to our business.

Capital One has established a broad range of initiatives intended to foster diversity across the company, including:

  • Providing internal cultural leadership and engagement with the community through volunteerism, mentoring, and donations by our associate networks.
  • Offering innovative programs such as generous parental leave programs for new mothers and fathers.
  • Mentoring for women- and minority-owned businesses through a supplier diversity program.

Our goal has been to develop a corporate culture where each associate feels valued, supported and connected, so that every associate is able to contribute to the success of Capital One, said Rob Keeling, Vice President of Diversity at Capital One. Our commitment to diversity and inclusion goes well beyond the walls of our offices. Our associates are actively engaged in our communities through volunteering and mentoring in diverse organizations.
