ATLANTA - (Business Wire) In a major expansion for customers who use Apple® products, UPS today announced a new application for iPhone® and iPod® touch users that not only ships and tracks packages but also uses built-in GPS features to find the nearest UPS location.

Available at the App Store,sm the new UPS Mobile App for the iPhone enables users to track shipments, create shipments using the My UPS address book, calculate shipping rates and time-in-transit and then find the nearest UPS location.

The free shipping app joins other UPS-enabled solutions for Apple users. NRG Software, LLC., a UPS Ready® strategic provider, recently added NRGship Mac to its shipping software lineup as a native Mac application.

“Apple users are an innovative group of customers who appreciate the capabilities that make the most of their devices. These new solutions help them take full advantage of the world’s largest package delivery company,” said Jordan Colletta, vice president of customer technology marketing at UPS.

iPhone App

iPhone and iPod touch users can use their devices to access their My UPS Address Book and Preferences and create shipping labels, which can be e-mailed in a PDF file for printout. Once the label is printed, customers can use the application's “find locations” feature, which leverages the built-in GPS to easily locate UPS.

The new iPhone App doesn’t require log-In for tracking. But when logged in, the application shows a history of tracked shipments and automatically refreshes when the application is opened. UPS tracking numbers also can be nicknamed for quick reference.

The shipping app is available for free from the App Store on iPhone or iPod touch or at www.itunes.com/ups/. For more information on the new application, users can also visit www.ups.com/iphone.

Mac App

NRGship Mac is fast, easy-to-use UPS shipping software for Mac that organizes all the details of the user’s shipments in one place. It has been designed for the unique needs of small Mac-based businesses that ship 5-to-10 packages per day, but can easily support greater volume.

"Mac customers want Mac solutions,” said Colletta. "Right out-of-the-box with NRGship Mac, users can ship directly from their Mac’s Address Book.”

Through the application, Mac businesses can take advantage of UPS online services such as UPS Tracking, UPS Rates & Service Selection, UPS Time in Transit, UPS Address Validation, and UPS Shipping. Configuring printers and scales is as simple as plugging in the USB connections.

NRGship Mac is now available. Customers can try the application free for 15 days by downloading a trial demo at www.nrgsoftware.com/ups.

Through the UPS Ready program, UPS works with providers to integrate UPS technology directly into their products and services. For more info, visit http://www.ups.com/content/us/en/bussol/browse/ready_program.html.
