ENCINO, Calif. - (Business Wire) David I. Rainer, President/CEO of California United Bank (OTCBB: CUNB) has announced that Larry E. Thomas will be the recipient of the First Annual CUB Community Service Award. Presentation of the award will take place at the dinner following CUBs Second Annual Golf Tourney on Oct. 27, 2008, at El Caballero Country Club in Tarzana. The Tournament benefits the Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley.

Larrys diligent efforts and outstanding contributions to the region make him a most worthy recipient for this meaningful award, said Rainer. California United Bank is dedicated to serving the community in which we do business and we believe strongly in honoring those who share that commitment.

According to Rainer, Thomas, who is retired Chairman of the Guitar Center and Founder of the Guitar Center Music Foundation, has enhanced the lives of children and adults with the joy of music. His Foundation makes the gift of music available to people across the country by providing funding and resources for a variety of music programs.

Thomas played a key role in development of Guitar Center's growth during his 30-year term. Guitar Center grew from three stores to the largest music instrument retailer in the world and is now a household name.

Thomas is a member of the World Presidents Organization (WPO), a former board member of NAMM, and currently serves as executive of the American Music Conference. He is also a board member of the California Music Project and serves on the Board of Advisors of the USC Thornton School of Music and is a Charter Benefactor of the Museum of Making Music.

The Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley was founded in 1995 as a response to the local need for safe, healthy, productive activities for youths during non-school hours. There are more than 1,500 members of the Club, and approximately 150 youngsters visit the facility each day, in addition to approximately 450 children provided after-school activities at Blythe and Reseda Elementary Schools, Canoga Park High School, and Tierra del Sol. The Club is located at 7245 Remmet Ave., Canoga Park, CA 91303. Telephone: (818) 610-1054.

Additional information on the Golf Tourney can be obtained from Jodi Martinez at California United Bank, (818) 257-7776.
