BOSTON - (Business Wire) Boston Bruins Principal Charlie Jacobs announced today that today the club will launch the “Boston Bruins Youth Hockey Team Challenge” presented by The Savings Bank Life Insurance Company of Massachusetts (SBLI, known in Connecticut as Centrian Life Insurance), an online contest on BostonBruins.com for youth hockey teams throughout New England, where 25 teams will win 20 tickets to the Bridgestone/NHL Winter Classic at Fenway Park. “The Winter Classic is a unique opportunity to see a Bruins game in a great outdoor venue like Fenway Park,” said SBLI President and CEO Robert K. Sheridan. “We are pleased to partner with the Bruins to provide the chance for New England youth hockey players to see their idols in action in a once-in-a-lifetime event.”
To enter the “Team Challenge” youth hockey teams need to log on to BostonBruins.com to submit an essay of 250 words or less explaining their efforts to emulate the Bruins, (i.e. hardworking, giving back to the community, etc.) and a team photo or logo no later than Thursday, December 3.
All nominees will be listed on BostonBruins.com where Bruins fans will vote for the team of their choice. The top 20 teams, as determined by online votes and an additional 5 teams, chosen by Boston Bruins players, will receive 20 tickets to the Bridgestone/NHL Winter Classic. The voting will continue until Thursday, December 10 at 12:00 p.m. Participating teams can view their ranking throughout the duration of the contest on the Bruins website.
At the conclusion of the contest, the 25 winning teams will be displayed on BostonBruins.com. In addition to winning tickets to the Bridgestone/NHL Winter Classic, the Bruins and SBLI will host a private celebration for representatives from each of the “Team Challenge” winning teams including a special skate on the ice of the outdoor rink at Fenway Park on Saturday, December 19.
