PHOENIX - (Business Wire) Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona (BCBSAZ) says “Get the facts, not the flu,” in a new campaign that launches today at azblue.com/Flu. The flu campaign offers its members, employer groups and Arizona residents information and resources on seasonal and H1N1 flu prevention and immunization.

The core of the campaign is a Web site at azblue.com/Flu, where Arizonans will find information on the status of the H1N1 vaccine and BCBSAZ’s benefit coverage for members who receive the H1N1 shot. The site also has information on the seasonal flu and where the community flu shot clinics are located, in addition to reference charts comparing symptoms of a typical cold with those of seasonal and H1N1 flu.

Employers will find a toolkit on azblue.com/Flu that includes fliers to post in their workplace. For employers who offer BCBSAZ health insurance, azblue.com/Flu provides answers to their employees’ benefit questions in relation to seasonal and H1N1 flu. BCBSAZ announced in August that it would cover the administration of the H1N1 vaccine for all BCBSAZ members in addition to its regular coverage of a seasonal flu shot.

“Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona wants to do our part in slowing the spread by raising awareness and educating our members and the Arizona public on seasonal and H1N1 flu,” said Dan Aspery, M.D., vice president of health services for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona. “There are steps you can take to protect yourself and your family and we want azblue.com/Flu to be a one-stop resource where Arizonans can learn more and get their questions answered.”

In addition to azblue.com/Flu, BCBSAZ will raise awareness through member mailings; informational e-blasts for members, employer groups and brokers; flu kits for BCBSAZ employees; and free-standing hand sanitizer stations at all BCBSAZ building entrances.

To learn more about the “Get the facts, not the flu” campaign, visit azblue.com/Flu. The site will be updated as the flu season progresses and as information is released on H1N1.
