ELMWOOD PARK, N.J., Aug. 7 NJ-Berliner-Green
ELMWOOD PARK, N.J., Aug. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Berliner
Communications, Inc. ("BCI" or the "Company") (OTC Bulletin Board: BERL), an
end-to-end provider of outsourced services for the wireless communications
industry, today announced the launch of its Green Energy Group geared towards
providing a complete portfolio of traditional network power equipment
integrated with "environmentally friendly" primary and backup power solutions.
The Company expects to sell hydrogen fuel cells, micro turbines, solar and
wind power solutions, batteries and rectifiers through this new group.
Rich Berliner, CEO of BCI, stated, "The FCC has mandated that wireless
carriers provide for eight-hour power back-up solutions for their grid-powered
networks. While these regulations have not been finalized, this was an
important driver of our decision to create this new Green Energy Group, and
position us to take advantage of this demand-driven market. As our customers
work to develop power solutions for their networks to comply with the FCC's
mandate, BCI will provide a wide array of power options that meet their
back-up power needs, including hydrogen fuel cells, micro turbines, solar and
wind power solutions. These new product and service offerings will seamlessly
integrate with our existing network installation and technical services
business. Moreover, using alternative "green" energy solutions is another way
to help respond to the environmental issues that we, as an enterprise, and our
customers, are concerned about."
Mr. Berliner added, "Installation of power systems is not new to BCI. We
have many years of experience in the installation of back-up power systems,
primarily generators and batteries, and this makes the addition of the Green
Energy Group a natural extension of our expertise."
BCI is also announcing two strategic hires for this new division, both
with extensive experience in this space. Stenia Dziadiw and Richard Hall have
joined the BCI team to lead this initiative, develop our various product and
service offerings and market these offerings to new and existing customers.
Stenia Dziadiw will serve as Vice President of the Green Energy Group. She
will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the power systems solutions
business and will lead the Green Energy Group. Ms. Dziadiw joins BCI from
Plug Power Fuel Cells, an alternative energy company. As an executive at Plug
Power, her responsibilities included global customer relationships and
management of key strategic alliances. Prior to Plug Power, Ms. Dziadiw held
executive positions in the telecommunications industry with T-Mobile, formerly
Voice Stream Wireless, and OmniPoint Communications. She brings a strong
business background to BCI, with experience in operations, sales, customer
support, financial services and strategy.
Rich Hall will serve as Director of the Green Energy Group. He will be
charged with providing critical infrastructure power products and systems to
BCI's customers through VAR (Value Added Reseller), distribution and
installation agreements. Mr. Hall's responsibilities will include designing
custom power solutions for BCI's customers, ensuring complete customer
satisfaction with these solutions, and maintaining field operational support
and life cycle services. Mr. Hall brings 16 years of telecommunications and
power systems technical management experience to BCI. Prior to joining BCI,
Mr. Hall was Director of Technical Engineering for Plug Power Fuel Cells,
where he was responsible for worldwide product and business development and
engineering solutions for next generation power systems.
"We welcome Stenia and Rich to our BCI team and we are confident their
wealth of industry knowledge and experience will represent significant assets
to our company and our customers as we grow our Green Energy Group," concluded
Berliner.
