PHOENIX, Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Phoenix seniors, caregivers and family members will get a first-hand look at the latest trend in assisted living and memory care on Saturday, November 14, when Arizona Baptist Retirement Centers (ABRC) unveils its new GREEN HOUSEĀ® assisted living homes at Baptist Village in Northeast Phoenix.

The public is invited to an open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a formal ribbon cutting ceremony and welcome by ABRC president Dave Ellis at 11:30 a.m.

Arizona Baptist Retirement Centers was the first to bring this innovative concept to the Valley in 2007 when the Green House assisted living homes opened at Baptist Village in Youngtown. Each of the three assisted living residences now available on the Northeast Campus is home to ten residents who live in private suites surrounded by full-service amenities, including a large family room, kitchen and dining room where residents enjoy a variety of social activities.

Donna Taylor, Executive Vice President of Arizona Baptist Retirement Centers, says the homes are an ideal solution for those who need assistance with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, medication management and for those who need special support due to memory care needs. Care is provided by trained caregivers who focus on creating a stimulating, socially active environment.

"Too many times, people think of assisted living communities as institutional, sterile facilities with little to recommend them as a place to live life fully," Taylor said. "The Green House concept is totally different - it's all about nurturing, protecting and sustaining life while preserving elder choice.

"Residents get to choose everything - what they eat, what time they go to bed and get up, what kind of social activities they participate in," she adds. "This kind of independent decision making gives our residents the opportunity to keep doing the things they enjoyed before they moved. Life stays normal."

The new Green House homes will complement the existing community of 77 single-level garden homes providing a maintenance-free lifestyle at Baptist Village - Northeast Phoenix. Dining and social activities are available on-site, and a community van provides transportation for outings to Desert Ridge restaurants and shopping, as well as medical appointments.

Arizona Baptist Retirement Centers has four campuses throughout Phoenix, offering more than 600 residences that accommodate the full range of retirement living options - from independent living garden homes and apartments to assisted living suites, skilled nursing and memory care.
