Baker Receives Awards for Destination Doylestown II Project - Bridge Replacement within 83 Hours

Destination Doylestown Phase II is an approximately one-mile walking and bicycling trail through the Delaware Valley College campus, connecting the 15-mile Doylestown Community Bike and Hike system to the proposed 9-mile S.R. 202 Parkway Trail, and to Doylestown’s Central Park. The primary challenge of the project was the replacement and widening of a bridge along the active SEPTA R-5 commuter railroad line over a four-day weekend outage to accommodate the new walking/bicycling trail and college roadway. Highly coordinated planning, detailed engineering and innovation construction techniques led to the completion of the bridge in less than 83 hours.
