TORONTO, ONTARIO -- 07/29/08 -- At one time or another, most of us have uttered the words, "I can't make miracles." And, it's true, maybe you can't do it - alone. But by joining your efforts with those of others you can sometimes work wonders.

Such an opportunity will be presenting itself at your local Wal-Mart store throughout the month of August, during the Miracles for Children campaign, an annual fundraiser for Children's Miracle Network. When consumers purchase popular Procter & Gamble brands participating in the campaign, a portion of the sales is donated to the local community hospital affiliated with Children's Miracle Network. The list of participating brands includes Crest®, Duracell®, Gillette®, Head & Shoulders®, Old Spice®, Oral B® and Pantene®.

The Miracles for Children campaign is aiming to raise up to $180,000 this year, with proceeds distributed to 14 Children's Miracle Network-affiliated hospitals across Canada. The funds raised will help these hospitals assist children of all ages and ailments. Two such young people are Hannah and Jacob. Both are "champions" who were among the ambassadors selected to represent the 17 million kids treated each year at Children's Miracle Network's-affiliated hospitals. Children's Miracle Network's Champions Across Canada presented by Wal-Mart Canada is a program that honours remarkable children who have demonstrated courage, tenacity and perseverance in the face of severe medical challenges.

Hannah, 10, is a young girl from Edmonton with incredible drive and determination. Hannah was born with hydrocephalus - a build-up of cerebrospinal fluid in her brain. The damage from the hydrocephalus caused bilateral spastic cerebral palsy and led some doctors to believe that Hannah would never be able to learn to walk. Through her tenacity and spirit, Hannah has overcome this obstacle and although she will face physical challenges throughout her entire life, she is determined to conquer them all.

Sixteen year-old Jacob from Hamilton, who has cerebral palsy and diabetes, has overcome a series of obstacles from the day he was born. Combining a strong will and positive attitude, he is an inspiration, whether it is in dealing with his health issues or helping his teammates win sledge hockey championships.

Since 1994, Wal-Mart Canada has raised more than $33 million for children's hospitals in Canada. These funds have helped spread some joy into the lives of sick children and their families. In August, customers can help make these miracles happen by purchasing participating Procter & Gamble Health and Beauty products.
