Madera County: California's Gateway to Yosemite offers big savings throughout fall and winter.

Oakhurst, CA (Vocus) November 7, 2009 -- The changing leaf colors are indicative of the changing seasons throughout the region. The falling leaves are also an indicator that vacations to Madera County: California’s Gateway to Yosemite, are becoming even more affordable.

“The fall and winter months are definitely great times to visit for vacationers looking for discounted prices,” said Jarrod Lyman with the Yosemite Sierra Visitors Bureau. “The rates are lower this time of year, yet all the attractions are still great draws,” he said.

Yosemite National Park, the biggest draw for the region, sees its highest crowds during the summer. However, the scenery during the winter is “magical” according to Lyman.

“To see the snow in the park, the way the light plays off of the cliffs, it’s like something out of a painting. The park is always beautiful, but there definitely is something special about the park during the winter months,” he said.

Bass Lake, which is another big draw for the region, is also a great winter destination. “Fewer crowds and an amazing winter backdrop make it a must see for people searching for that picturesque winter vacation spot,” said Lyman.

Many of the properties there offer numerous discounts as well, from discounted rooms to special holiday dinners. both Miller's Landing (www.millerslanding.com) and The Pines Resort are offering specials that will delight those looking for a getaway in what Sunset Magazine named the West's Best Lake. Miller's Landing is offering 20% discounts on all cabin rentals through this year until May 15. The Pines Resort has numerous specials for lodging and dining throughout the Holiday season. From additional day stays for $50, bed and breakfast packages for $99 to holiday party specials. www.basslake.com.

Many other properties throughout Madera County are offering substantial discounts. They include:
