The release of a completely redesigned interface for the Arconi SoftTools website is accompanied by an update of all the tools offered at the site. Some of the updates were significant combining GUI and internal program updates for a more user friendly interface and rock solid operation. Arconi SoftTools has been offering very powerful software tools for Microsoft system administrators for almost four years. Many of the tools are directed at managing Microsoft Active Directory and Exchange server. Also there are many utilities for day-to-day management of Windows servers. A large repository of scripts, Winbatch, VB and PHP are also available as well as "Solution" articles and White papers.

(PRWEB) November 9, 2009 -- One of the tools "Active Directory Editor" (a visitor favorite as measured by the 100+ downloads a week) has been "re-tooled" to resolve some bugs and add some user requested features. Another favorite (20+ downloads-a-day) "RDP Enable" (remote desktop enable) is no longer free. The tool has been updated and some very powerful features added. "One of the features that I saw a need for was the ability to access systems when I was not part of the same domain, so I added the ability to pass permissions to the system being accessed without having to be on the same domain." stated Charles Arconi, developer of the RDP utility.

Also the "Active Directory Reporter", again another visitor favorite, was re-tooled and new features, including new reports, were added. The utility was also added to the list of tools that are no longer free. "I really was hesitant about charging for any of my tools because they have always been free, but in the past I received donations and made a little money from click adds to support the site. For months now no one has been donating or clicking adds yet the download rate stayed the same and even increased. This also increased the work I had in answering questions so I felt asking a small fee for the tools was justified. So far the response has been good." stated Charles Arconi, Founder. The site has been updated to reflect some of the latest design tr, such as being web 2.0 compatible. But more so for ease of use and navigation. The menu systems are easy to traverse and the search facility is powerful and returns detailed results quickly making it easy to find what you need without wasted time looking around.

Chuck Arconi founder of Arconi SoftTools started the website in 2004 as a response to constant requests for scripts and his then "private" stash of utilities for managing Windows servers and systems. "I was always sending my tools or scripts through email to colleagues. Dealing with virus scanners and firewalls was a pain so I started placing them at an FTP site, that soon turned into a simple website, then people found it and well, you know the rest." stated Charles Arconi. The site is always changing and Charles is working hard to keep it "fresh" and full of good content.

One of the benefits of re-working the website and changing to a mixed model of ads and "utilities for sale" is that there are less advertisements cluttering the site. Also by charging a small fee there is now a more focused effort to make sure that any "pay" utilities are rock solid and support is quick and responsive. Also it gives Charles more time to work on articles focused on his latest passion "Data Archiving". For almost four years Charles has been working with data archiving products like "Symantec Enterprise Vault" and "Mimosa Nearpoint". The site will soon reflect that as a host of articles will be released soon focused on these technologies.

Looking to the near future there are 2 new tools on the way, one to manage Active Directory accounts and another to manage service accounts on a global scale throughout an organization. "I'm really excited to release these tools, the benefit they offer to system administrators is immense." stated Charles Arconi. The new tools are focused on easing the pain of SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) audits." I have used these tools to support at least seven SOX audits with great success. In fact several of the auditors were very interested in the tools and asked if they could have them for other customers they were auditing" stated Charles Arconi.

Active Directory Editor will soon be removed from the "free" list of utilities, you should go now to the website and grab it. Also download all of the tools you find useful for your sys admin "arsenal" as in the future they may be added to the "pay-only" list.
