MONTVALE, N.J., June 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Chief Executive magazine today
announced that Anne Mulcahy, Chairman and CEO, Xerox Corporation, has been
selected by her peers as "CEO of the Year." She joins an impressive group of
past winners including: Bob Ulrich, Target, John Chambers, Cisco Inc., and
Bill Gates, Microsoft Corp. Mulcahy will be presented with the CEO of the
Year award at a dinner at the New York Stock Exchange on July 17, 2008.
Mulcahy's nomination was a unanimous decision by the selection panel,
chaired by Bob Ulrich, CEO, Target Corp., and the magazine's 2007 CEO of the
Year.
"Mulcahy's vision and courage to foresee short-term challenges and plan
for the long-term is evident in her actions," said J.P. Donlon,
editor-in-chief of Chief Executive magazine. "She has done a remarkable job
in transforming Xerox into the world's leading document management technology
and services enterprise. She is an outstanding leader in every aspect, and we
are happy to name her the 23rd CEO of the Year."
Appointed CEO in August 2001, Mulcahy is dedicated to building a
sustainable business that focuses on developing talent and fosters new
technologies through research. At a time when most companies are trying to
cut costs, R&D is central to Mulcahy's strategy, as proven by the more than
100 new products that have emerged over the last three years.
Xerox aims to transform the graphic communications business from an offset
to a digital world for customized print on demand. In addition, Xerox has
focused on expanding its presence into the small and medium business market,
most notably with its acquisition of Global Imaging Systems, an office
equipment distributor, in May of 2007. The billion dollar deal added 4,000
sales people to its team and gave Xerox access to more than 200,000 potential
customers. In addition, Xerox is working to grow its $3.8 billion global
services business with its acquisition of Amici and Advectis -- two software
companies that provide document management capabilities to the legal and
mortgage industry respectively.
"This award is not a singular accomplishment, but instead, represents the
impressive accomplishments of Xerox people around the world -- a team which I
am privileged to lead," said Mulcahy. "Our focus at Xerox is clear: creating
a great experience for our customers, providing rewarding careers for our
people, building value for our shareholders. Recognition for our leadership
in these areas is a great source of pride for our entire company."
Xerox also takes significant pride in its commitment to the environment.
As the first business equipment company to remanufacture and reuse parts and
components to reduce the amount of waste that would otherwise end up in
landfills, Xerox, under the leadership of Mulcahy, continues to foster
environmental innovation and recently committed $2 million to Rochester
Institute of Technology to serve as a founding partner of The Golisano
Institute for Sustainability.
"Anne is an exemplary CEO across all facets. She is an excellent
motivator, a true visionary and a strong believer in innovation and
sustainability. Her contributions to Xerox and the industry speak volumes
about her leadership acumen and we congratulate her on this Award," said
Edward M. Kopko, CEO of Chief Executive Group.
