      The American Red Cross of Greater Cleveland has two crews on the scene 
      and volunteers and staff mobilized to respond to residents displaced 
      following an apartment fire at 13855 Superior Ave. in East Cleveland.

CLEVELAND - (Business Wire) The American Red Cross of Greater Cleveland has two crews on the scene and volunteers and staff mobilized to respond to residents displaced following an apartment fire at 13855 Superior Ave. in East Cleveland.

Red Cross Disaster Action Teams are supplying hot beverages and snacks to both the Fire responders as well as displaced residents. A reception center is currently open at 14801 Shaw Ave. in East Cleveland for residents who cannot return to their apartments.

“Our hearts go out to the families displaced by this tragic occurrence on such a bitter cold day,” stated Mary-Alice Frank, CEO. “The Red Cross will be there to assist as long as we are needed.”

The American Red Cross of Greater Cleveland responds to an average of a fire per day, every single day of the year, but it sees a dramatic uptick during the cold weather months. The Red Cross will help residents with temporary shelter, food and clothing replacement, medication replacement, mental health or physical health referrals and even funeral assistance if necessary. It is our goal it assist the 1.7 million residents of Cuyahoga, Geauga and Lake counties to prevent, prepare for and respond to disasters like the East Cleveland apartment fire which occurred today.
