GALVESTON, Texas, Oct. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American National
Insurance Company (Nasdaq: ANAT) and its subsidiaries, Garden State Life

National Life Insurance Company of Texas, are now returning employees to work
in the Galveston Home Office. This will allow the company to transition from
its temporary operating areas to normal operations.
We have been experiencing some difficulty with mail delivery from the US
Postal Service. Our mail volume has been considerably less since the
hurricane and the Postal Service has not yet been able to locate any
undelivered mail. We are asking all of our customers, policyholders, agents
and business partners to please contact our customer service areas if they
have not received a response, in a reasonable amount of time, to any mail sent
to us, so that we can make alternate arrangements to process the requests.
We want to thank everyone for their support, patience and well wishes. We
are proud of the tremendous effort put forth by our employees in the wake of
Hurricane Ike.
