The award of $150,000 will help Amachi Pittsburgh empower young people to realize their God-given potential through mentoring, even though their home life may be in turmoil because of the incarceration of one parent or both.

"We are grateful to FYSB for identifying and supporting new approaches to helping families and effecting positive change in neglected communities," said Anna E. Hollis, executive director of Amachi Pittsburgh. "We believe Amachi Pittsburgh is charting a more promising course for Allegheny County by empowering our 'Children of Promise' to make a constructive social impact in the community and the world beyond."

The Family and Youth Services Bureau awarded competitive MCP grants to 54 organizations nationwide, ranging from $70,000 to $600,000. FYSB supports local communities by providing funding for organizations that offer services to young people and their families.
