ST. LOUIS - (Business Wire) The Crossing Church, a non-denominational Christian church in Chesterfield, today announced the premiere of “Advent Conspiracy: Entering the Story” featuring guest speaker and two-time National League MVP, Albert Pujols. This local event introduces St. Louisans to Advent Conspiracy, an international movement born from the disillusionment of holiday commercialization. Specifically, “Advent Conspiracy: Entering the Story” will demonstrate to business leaders, educators and pastors in St. Louis how they can enter the story of Christmas in a way that celebrates its original meaning - the birth of Jesus - while channeling this initiative and redirecting it for their own charitable efforts.
“Christmas is about the spirit of giving, and Advent Conspiracy shows us how to give to the non-profit causes that we are most passionate about here in St. Louis,” said Todd Perry, Executive Director/CEO of Pujols Family Foundation. “Our foundation is excited to speak at this event about how companies and organizations can fundraise locally by being part of the Advent Conspiracy grassroots movement.”
Greg Holder established Advent Conspiracy with two other pastors from across the country. It started with a simple idea: What if people entered the story of Christ’s birth by focusing less on consumerism, giving more relational gifts to their loved ones and using a little of the money they didn’t spend to support organizations that are helping people in need both locally and globally? Three years into the launch, Advent Conspiracy has been circulated in over 13 countries, the website has been clicked on by more than 1.6 million viewers and the concept has raised more than $5 million to drill fresh water wells in needy countries.
“Advent Conspiracy has given words to what many have been feeling during this season. We want to ditch the stress and celebrate Jesus’ birth while supporting those who need our help, be it in another country or in our own backyard,” said Greg Holder, Lead Pastor of The Crossing and co-author of Advent Conspiracy: Can Christmas Still Change the World? “We want St. Louis to view Advent Conspiracy as an open-source movement to be replicated as much as possible. This launch event is a conversation about what Advent Conspiracy is about, how to teach it, and how to derive value from it as a means to help St. Louis people and St. Louis-based non-profit organizations.”
“Advent Conspiracy: Entering the Story” will take place on Wednesday, November 11th from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Registration is required. Albert Pujols and Greg Holder with both speak. Coffee and bagels will be served. Interested parties can register at the following link: http://www.wcrossing.org/adventconspiracy/acsignup.html
