Please Press Plie: New Work by Steven Colucci on Exhibition through September 28th
NEW YORK, Sept. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Acclaimed artist Steven Colucci is proud to present Please Press Plie: an exhibition of new works at Mark Hachem Galerie on public view through Sunday, September 28th. Curated by Stacy Engman the exhibit features 17 new paintings by Steven Colucci and the debut of Colucci Couture, a custom line of gowns and dresses designed by the artist.
"I named this show 'Please Press Plie' to convey the inspiration I've drawn from my career as performance artist and how I've applied it to my artwork," said Steven Colucci. "My latest collection of artwork is a technical expression of physicality and movement, which is evident in each piece whether the subject is the human body, a floral or an abstract."
Steven Colucci's latest artwork references his career as a professional ballet dancer and mime. The paintings depict the artist's iconoclastic approach to performance and visual art and each one incorporates his signature gestures of varying states of movement.
Steven Colucci has also unveiled Colucci Couture, a capsule collection of exquisite handmade dresses and gowns bearing his original artwork. Using pleated organza, silk charmeuse and intricate hand sewn sequins, Colucci translates his original paintings into his first collection of couture gowns and evening dresses. The line will eventually expand to include ready-to-wear and accessories.
Mark Hachem Galerie, open to the public daily from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, is located at 988 Madison Avenue at 77th Street. The exhibition is sponsored by Citi Smith Barney and Sciame.
