Nissan to launch compact TIIDA in Europe

Rappes, France - Nissan has announced that it will introduce its new compact model TIIDA in five more European countries next year. The European debut will be celebrated at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) in from September 13 to 23.

The four and five-door models of the TIIDA would be on sale from January Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Austria and Portugal, Nissan Europe said.

Three engines will be available; a 1.6-litre petrol with 81 kW/110hp, a 1.8- litre petrol 93 kW/126hp) and a 1.5dCi of 78 kW/105hp.

The TIIDA has already been launched in mainly eastern European countries. In the United States, it is sold as the Versa and has been on the market in Japan for some time.

The name TIIDA is derived from a word in a Japanese dialect Meaning "ever-changing tide". The vehicle is segmented between the NOTE and QASHQAI in terms of price, the company said without revealing details.
