With glee and anticipation fans of Tolkiens, Lord Of The Rings trilogy will have wished and asked Santa for the latest computer game, which lets fans control and conduct their own battles and struggles in a quest to rule Mordor, Rohan, the Shire, Gondor et al.
The stratedgy game called 'The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth' was released pre Christmas by EA Games, of course hopeful to cash in on the shopping rush up to the festive period . Released initially in PC format by Electronic Arts, Battle for Middle Earth is a game that fans of the books and films will love to play, dont expect an easy ride, the game is challenging although you are getting the chance to control the destiny of Middle Earth.
The Battle for Middle Earth game has been released using DVD technology format with enhanced graphics, sound and some video footage and depending on the side you choose you control the armies or forces of good and evil, which appear like in the movies as soldiers, archers if Elves and of course monsters such as Uruks or creatures like Orcs.
This real time strategy game based on the Lord of the Rings suits the game perfectly, you can see almost every character that was seen throughout the trilogy of movies but not only that, you get the chance to control them and use each ones own special attributes to your armies advantage. There are both long campaigns where you will lose days, engrossed in the struggle or shorter and more high impact battle scenarios where you can get straight into battles and play multi-players conflicts.
The single player campaigns are narrated by Christopher Lee alias the evil Saruman and Sir Ian McKellen who played the hero Gandalf in the movies although these are not easy so dont expect easy victories, some of the sizes of forces massed and that can be used are vast.
Fans of real time strategy games and of course The Lord of The Rings will love this game, 'The Battle for Middle Earth' and if you didn't get it for Christmas then it is worth the purchase.
