LONDON - The divorce saga of ex-Beatle Sir Paul McCartney and Heather Mills turned nasty after the latter allegedly accused Sir Paul of violent attacks on her.
According to various British newspapers, she alleges that once Sir Paul stabbed her with a broken wine glass and at another time tried to strangle her when asked whether he had smoked marijuana. She allegedly described another attack in the allegations by saying that Sir Paul had pushed her into the bathtub when she was four months pregnant with their child.
Ms. Mills made her alleged accusations in a document, which she is said to have sent to a national newspaper and to the Press Association.
The law firm representing Heather Mills has refused to comment on the leaks but added that she is prepared to prove all the allegations that she has filed in the court.
"Lady Heather Mills McCartney stands by everything that has been filed at court on her behalf and intends to prove its truth in due course, should this be necessary. We would ask that the parties' privacy, during what is a difficult and emotional time, is respected", the firm said.
Sir Paul has denied all the allegations.
Sir Paul married Heather Mills in 2002 in the Republic of Ireland after a courtship of 3 years when they had met at her charity work in 1999. In May this year, the couple filed for divorce citing media's "constant intrusion" into their lives as the main reason.
