Nokia corp and Turner Broadcasting System Europe Limited have entered into a multi country agreement which will enable the European mobile phone subscribers to view Turner's Cartoon Network. The station broadcasts news and entertainment on several channels, including CNN, Cartoon Network, and Turner Classic Movies (TCM).
It is spread in over100 countries in Europe, Africa and the Middle East and will provide a positive commercial outcome for all stakeholders. TCM is a forerunner in development of brands through Internet, broadband, wireless, DVD, e-commerce, merchandising, cinema and publishing.
The cell phone users will be able to access the services which include browsing, downloading and purchasing over-the-air Cartoon Network games, video clips, and other content, even when they are on the move.
Using Nokia's Content Discoverer, the subscribers will be able to view a wide range of cartoons which Cartoon Network develops and maintains like the Powerpuff Girls and Dexter's Laboratory. This agreement will provide a shop window for not only for games but also for video clips and wall papers.
The branded content providers, content aggregators and mobile service providers will run a collection of shopping mall “stores” which will facilitate the mobile users to easily download content using Nokia Content Discoverer. Nokia's Content Discoverer is utilized in several Nokia devices that are currently available in various markets around the world.
These include the S60 and series 40 devices including the N series multimedia devices( Nokia N70, N71, N72, N73, N80 and N93), Eseries devices for enterprise users (Nokia E50, E60, E61 and E70), Nokia 5500, and Nokia 3250 handsets. By the end of 2006, Nokia content Discoverer is slated to be used by over 20 million customers worldwide.
The European countries that will benefit from this agreement include Belgium, Britain, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain and Sweden.
