BAGHDAD, Aug. 15 A key U.S. Army general in Baghdad says the "tactical momentum" is moving against al-Qaida in Iraq.
Brig. Gen. Keven Bergner, deputy commander of coalition forces in the western part of the country, spoke to reporters Wednesday.
"Tactical momentum is Â… continuing against al-Qaida in Iraq networks and leaders, even as we simultaneously chip away at the Iranian-supported militia extremists," Bergner said. "In the month of July, some 18 senior al-Qaida in Iraq leaders were either captured or killed, and hundreds of other lower-level operatives were also captured or killed."
As of mid-August, "together with our Iraqi partners, we are seeing continued progress, with five al-Qaida senior leaders killed or captured from Mosul, Salahuddin, Samarra and Baghdad," Bergner said, including "Haitham Sabah al-Badri, the emir of Salahuddin and the organizer of both bombings of the Golden Mosque in Samarra." He was reported killed by a U.S. airstrike.
Bergner also said Iraqi security forces and government leaders provided "a safe and secure passage for millions of people. Last week Â… millions of Iraqis fulfilled an important obligation of their faith by walking to the Al-Kadhim Mosque (a Shiite shrine in Baghdad). Ensuring security for such a large gathering was an enormous undertaking." Copyright 2007 by UPI

Combatting Homegrown Terorism

Sadly, homegrown terrorism will increase, not decrease, even if Osama is killed. Many more will rise up to take his place. I would like to suggest that in this war on Islamic terrorism, in whatever are advocated, the wisdom of some people advocating for the use of the Quran as a weapon against Islamic terrorists must not be overlooked. “The only force that can challenge Islamic terrorism is Islam itself," so wrote Phillip Blond, senior lecturer in Philosophy and Religion in the University of Cumbria, together with Adrian Pabst, lecturer in Theology, University of Nottingham.
So Muslim terrorists must be denied the monopoly of their Quran and Hadiths to perpetrate their great evil when these books are also the only effective weapons against them. It is by default of the non-Muslims and the coward moderate Muslims that allow Islamic terorists this monopoly.
Incredibly many Americans are also egged on by self-serving politicians to employ their 'weapon'—pressing President Bush for American troop withdrawals from the battle fields—for their impossible victory against Al-Qaedians and Islamic terrorists. It is sadder still that many weak-minded libertarians even choose to delude themselves that Islamic terrorists held in Guantanamo camp is evidence of Bush’s moral failing, and vehemently advocating for them to be treated like common criminals: insisting that those evil people must be given their rights to tell lies in court; to keep silent and to enjoy their rights of reasonable doubt, and their rights of access to see classified evidence; etc, etc. This is the sure way to increase the number of homegrown terrorists in America and the West.
Clamouring for troop withdrawals and using kid’s gloves should not be the way forward in the war on terror. I invite those wooly-minded champions of human rights to come to Singapore and learn how our government and Muslim leaders successfully fight together this difficult war. Here we lock them up right away in ISA detention. And no Singaporeans nowadays are calling for ISA detention laws to be scrapped.
Why should Islamic terrorists be given by default the monopoly in the use of their Quran and Hadiths as their weapons to do evil, when these same books can also be the only effective weapons against those evil, sex-hungry demonoids? Precision bombs and missiles are not good enough. In this war, there are also no boundaries, and will stretch over generations to come.
It is not President Bush who started the war as it is almost as old as Islam itself. History can not be denied that countries defeated by American military power were subsequently helped by America to become very rich and successful. Thank you America! So patience, courage and wisdom must not be found lacking in the Americans.
But one thing is for sure: they who use the Quran and Hadiths to perpetrate great evil are merely holding the small daggers of Islam. But they who use these books for good are wielding the sharp and powerful LONG SWORDS of Islam. It needs no rocket science for anyone to figure out the outcome of a deadly contest between these two groups of people. For the Quran says Allah is the best Schemer and Plotter against evil people who think otherwise. Ali-Imran 3:54 and Al-Anfal 8:30.
Good that the Quran is consigning these wilful, cold-blooded murderers of innocent Muslim children, women and men to Hellfire. The Quran says Muslims must not kill Muslims, or they will be thrown into Hellfire. An-Nisaa 4:29,92. For Allah does not guide the evildoers. At-Tauba 9:36. He is always with those who keep away from evil and who do good deeds. Al-Nahl 16:128.
Allah should be powerful enough, without anyone to help Him, to know who needs to be obliterated from planet earth, certainly not so weak that he needs Satan and the Jinns (demons) to incite sex-hungry suicide bombers to slaughter innocent Muslims daily in their twisted jihads! If Allah is almighty and wise, why should he need to beg Satan and His Jinns for help to destroy Themselves, and splatter the bodies of innocent Muslims through suicide bombings? Satan would be stupid to agree for self-destruction, and allah is stupider to have begged Satan in this way!
Now, victory comes only from Allah Ali-Imran 3:116. That’s why more Al-Qaedians, especially those in Iraq, are seeing that this is so, and turning against Osama and his wicked demonoids. Even King Abdallah of Saudi Arabia has branded them as agents of Satan! So more people are seeing the light in the glorious Quran!
Allahu Akbar!!
