SYDNEY, Aug. 14 An Australian couple expecting their first child said a Facebook profile set up from the perspective of the fetus has drawn unexpected attention.

Claire Gillis and Luke Waring said the page they created on the social networking Internet site was meant to keep family and friends updated on the progress of the pregnancy, the Sydney Daily Telegraph reported Tuesday.

"We have friends and family all over the world, so we are using it for them, to post updates on ultrasounds, scans and what it has been doing all week," Gillis said. "So that's how it started."

However, the couple said the page has drawn attention from outside their circle of family and friends, receiving more than 100 friend requests, the Daily Telegraph said.

"I'm considering whether I should just open it up to the public because I'm just receiving the most ridiculous number of e-mails and friend requests," she said.

Gillis said she will continue to update the Internet public on the status of the famous fetus.

"Once he or she is born, we'll post updates of what the sex is and what the name is and all those kinds of details," she told the Daily Telegraph.
