NEW DELHI, Aug. 13 India says it plans to promote wind power through fiscal incentives such as concessional customs and excise duties on components.

"The government of India promotes setting up of wind power projects in the country through fiscal incentives such as concessional customs duty on certain components, excise duty exemption, 10-year holidays on income generated from wind power projects, and accelerated depreciation," Junior Minister for New and Renewable Energy Vilas Muttemwar told the lower house of Parliament.

He said the government was also providing preferential tariffs for wind power in several states.
