ST. LOUIS, Aug. 8 St. Louis Science Center officials say a 3-year-old boy visiting with a day care group was left in a parked van outside the center for more than an hour.

Marti Cortez, head of the museum's Visitor Experience Division, said the boy and about 30 other children were brought to the center by the Happy Go Lucky Child Care Center of Ferguson, Mo., between 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Tuesday, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Wednesday.

A pedestrian noticed the boy inside the van about noon, Cortez said.

"It just appeared to be an accident -- an oversight on their part," Cortez said.

Although temperatures exceeded 100 degrees that day, the boy's condition was not considered serious.

"He appeared to be just really scared," Cortez said.

Police said they plan to apply for arrest warrants in the case.
