Manila - Seven people were killed Monday when heavy rains triggered landslides in a southern Philippine province, a regional police chief said. Chief Superintendent Andres Caro said the victims were buried in landslides in Maco town in Compostela Valley province, 990 kilometres south of Manila.
Three other people were missing, while one woman was injured.
Caro said heavy rains since the weekend have caused rivers to overflow and softened land in the mountainous town of Maco, triggering the accident.
