LOS ANGELES - Michael Moore, whose docu-film "Sicko" highlighted the perils of the American health care system, has been served with a subpoena by the Bush administration. Federal officials apparently want some information on the patients Moore took to Cuba as a part of his research for the film.

Moore confirmed the subpoena order on NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno." The filmmaker has apparently been asked to explain the logic behind the Cuba trip. "I was just informed when I was back there with Jay that the Bush administration has now issued a subpoena for me going after me for helping these 9-11 rescue workers," Moore said on the show.

Moore took several workers who had fallen sick after working at Ground Zero to the Guantanamo Bay facility in Cuba and demanded that they receive the same care as was being given to the detainees. However when he received no response from US authorities, Moore took his patents to Cuba where they received free medical treatment.

"I didn't go there like Cameron Diaz to get a tan," said Moore. "I was there to help them and now I'm going to face this further harassment from the Bush people. Aren't they busy with something else?" Back in May, the Foreign Assets Control under the Treasury Department had issued a notice to Moore asking for more information on the trip, which it said was not approved.

Moore is peeved at the administration for targeting him and this latest turn of events will not be welcome at all. His film "Sicko" has received critical acclaim all over, but has irked the administration.
