Vanity Fair's golden investment in Suri Cruise

The maiden photo-op of Suri Cruise has catapulted Vanity Fair into raptures with the print editions selling like hot cakes. Even the magazine's website received 4,000,000 visits in one day, which is a new record. Whatever Vanity Fair paid for the right to have those exclusive pics was well worth it and more.

The magazine claims that it received 4,000 new subscriptions after the issue, which also featured a 22-page spread of the baby and parents Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, hit the stands. Newsstands ran out of copies so quickly that distributors were seen rushing vans to replenish them In New York one stand at the Grand Central railway station alone sold 350 copies within minutes.

But the photo shoot conducted by noted photographer Annie Leibovitz was shrouded in secrecy. Not even the magazine's publicity department was allowed to see it. Security guards were posted at its printing plant and distributor copies were shipped a day later than normal to narrow the time when copies could have been snapped up by rival publications. Editor-in-chief Graydon Carter was behind this master plan, according to Women's Wear Daily.

While the Cruise pics may have proved to be a golden investment for the magazine and the proud parents, Moby has blasted Tom Cruise for using his baby as a PR prop. "Putting your CHILD on the cover of Vanity Fair? Are they out of their minds? Using children as PR props does disgust me," the 'Porcelain' singer wrote in his blog. "I don't know Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, but I really cannot for a second fathom the mindset of parents who would sell pictures of their children and use their children to get better press. It's gross."

    By: Trish , Wed, 13 Sep 2006 22:37:57 GMT

What an idiot, moby needs to get his facts straight, they didn't get paid for the photos and they aren't the only ones that have had their children on the cover of a mag so has Brooke Shields and her daughters, Britney Spears, Angie and Brad Pitt, Julia Robersts and the list goes on so this dumb unknown musician needs to shut up if he doesn't have his facts straight. People have been waiting to see Suri's photo and all the other celebrity baby photos as well.

Yeah I have to agree, they did not sell their pictures, so why does that make them gross? I think that tom an katie were just trying to live normal lives like the new parents that they are. When you have a newborn, you want to be with it the most that you can, so i dont blame them. I respect their trying to keep their personal life private.
