WARSAW, Poland, July 23 Intoxicated babies were born to two visibly drunk mothers in two Polish hospitals within a week, Polish Radio reported Monday.
One mother, who was identified only as Grazyna K., told doctors in a hospital at the town of Elblag she had only a few glasses of wine with friends.
A blood test showed the mother had a blood alcohol content of 0.19 percent, while her newborn baby girl had 0.20 percent BAC, the radio said. Doctors said the baby was in a serious condition.
Last week, a woman whom doctors in a Zabrze hospital described as extremely drunk gave birth to a baby boy, who had a BAC of 0.12 percent the report said.
