NEW YORK - Pop singer Jessica Simpson has been advised to keep quiet for a few days after suffering from laryngitis. The timing seems all wrong as she contracted it on the day her new album "A Public Affair" was released in the U.S.
She has cancelled her interview on CBS in "The Late Show with David Letterman" while she had to reschedule her interview with Matt Lauer on NBC's "Today Show". Clarifying on the issue, her publicist Rob Shuter said, "It is true that she has indeed lost her voice. She's been ordered to rest. … She can talk, she can croak out a few sentences. She sounds a little off, but, you know, she can't sing. The timing could not have been worse"
However she will be appearing on MTV's "Total Request Live", hosted by her ex-husband's girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo. Promoting her album at Roxy, a top New York nightspot, Simpson said, "It's a fun album and my fans will love it. I wish I could sing it for them right now, but there's no way."
Joe Simpson, her dad and manager revealed that she was disappointed by the timing of the illness. "This is her moment. This record is from her heart it's something she wants to share with her fans. She did it, she executive produced it, she chose the songs, she has some things she wants to say", he said.
Jessica Simpson has been warned to take the illness seriously and to observe a complete vocal rest or else she may lose her voice forever.
