Mercedes releases details of C 63 AMG sports car

Stuttgart - Mercedes-Benz has released details of the new C 63 AMG sports car, a sister vehicle to the race car in the German Touring Car Championships. External design features include a bonnet with pronounced power domes and a new front. At the rear, the AMG rear apron features a black diffuser insert and three diffuser fins.

The C 63 is powered by a normally aspirated 6,208cc V8, with a maximum power output of 336 kW/457 horsepower and maximum torque of 600Nm.

Mercedes lists the zero to 100 kph sprint at 4.5 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h.

Transmission is a seven-speed automatic gearbox with steering wheel shift paddles. The car also features an automatic throttle- blipping function during downshifts.

A three-level Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) forms part of the safety system. Mercedes revealed no details of the price but it is expected to makes its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
