The population in Britain has exceeded 60 million; the biggest annual rise since 1962 has been driven up mainly by immigration. A vast majority of British citizens feel it is time to stop or at least limit new arrivals to the country.
The British Government greatly underestimated the numbers of migrants who would come to Britain from the former communist bloc when they joined the EU in 2004 6000.00 have registered for work in Britain. One million migrants in total have already registered. Add to that figure thousands of illegal workers in the country, this huge rise in the population over a short period of time cannot go on, it is not sustainable.
Many of the new migrants do work and can support themselves, thousands more are claiming all the benefits they are ‘entitled to’. The latest figures show that the benefits claimed are over 43 million pounds per year, paid for by the British tax payer. The government was adamant new arrivals would not claim welfare; obviously they got it wrong again.
The costs to the tax-payers does not end there, local councils have to provide other services, housing, education and medical care, in a lot of places interpreters have to be employed to help out in schools, medical facilities etc. these costs have to be met by the citizens, rises in the community charges are inevitable.
Mass immigration on this scale brings with it many problems, anger and resentment from the local population, in many areas crime is on the increase including drug dealing and sex crimes thus putting extra strain on the police forces and the prison service.
Local, just normal people are very worried they feel their towns and cities are been taken over by foreigners, they themselves were never consulted, they see first hand their councils struggling to cope with housing and other social services. Britain has too many divided communities, multicultural issues in the UK are problematic; integration will be an essential element to help ‘mend the divisions’ that exist now.
There will be some people who benefit from the mass influx of foreign migrant workers, in general they will work for lower wages; this does not benefit the country.
In the long term, unemployment is rising faster in Britain than the rest of Europe, this means more people will have to claim benefits, add that to the benefits the migrants are claiming now! The government should listen to its citizens, be honest with its people and act now on all issues relating to immigration and asylum. The open door policy must end; Britain now needs to get to grips with existing immigration, asylum and community problems, not add to them.
