Bangkok - Laos on Monday released seven Thai army rangers and a village headman who crossed into Lao territory last week on "anti-narcotic activities."

"Everything went smoothly," said Lao Foreign Ministry spokesman Yong Chanhthalousy, who attended the handover ceremony at Muang Ngern, in Xaingabouri province on Laos. "We even let them take their equipment, including a GPS (global positioning system), but not their weapons which will be returned later."

On July 10 the eight Thai nationals crossed in Lao territory from Nan province, Thailand, allegedly as part of an anti-narcotics operation, Thai sources said.

"They entered 300 metres into our territory," said Yong, in a telephone interview with Deutsche Presse-Agentur

Wake Up Thai People
By: Bounchan , Tue, 17 Jul 2007 02:17:37 GMT

Hello, Thai people. Wake up and be aware of the brutal Communism Lao Government. Someday, this regime will attack your country. Think about what the regime had done for the 8 Thai rangers several days ago. The Communism Lao does not arrest Vietnameses coming from Vietnam, but they arrest Thai people. Think about this. Is this a good relationship between Thailand and Laos? No, not at all. Watch out Laos.

There is a big corruption on the Lao PDR government and a shameful cover up on the incident at Bokeo area. Lao PDR came invading three Hmong Villages and force women and men. Witness had said that many were killed and tortured, Lao Army including Viet army also been seen in the area of some where 2000 soldiers to more. They continuesly firing weapons to the hiding areas and witness said the fighting is on going. This incident is not "narcotic operation". It is operation of post-war!
