Bangkok - A young crocodile disrupted business at Bangkok's upmarket Soi Thong Lor - a street famed for boutique shops and fancy restaurants - when it was spotted squatting on a footpath in the posh neighbourhood, media reports said Saturday. Fear quickly turned to sympathy for the 1.2-metre-long reptile, after panicked pedestrians realized its mouth and feet were bound with string, said the Bangkok Post.

Zoo experts called in to save the beast speculated that it had fallen off the back of a truck Friday morning as it was being taken to an unspecified location for unspecified reasons.

Bangkok is famed for its crocodile farms, where the reptiles are commercially bred for their skins and meat. The farms also serve as tourist attractions.
