FRAMINGHAM, Mass., July 13 Texas-based Ameresco Inc. has purchased Southwest Photovoltaic Systems Inc. in an effort to expand its capability to deliver renewable energy solutions.

Southwest PV is a designer, integrator and distributor of photovoltaic, wind and other renewable energy systems. The company's focus is on specialty off-grid and small- to mid-scale grid-connected applications.

Ameresco is one of North America's largest independent, single-source providers of energy solutions. Company officials say the addition of Southwest PV strengthens Ameresco's ability to deliver integrated solar photovoltaic systems and expands the company's presence in the Southern and Western states.

"On a regular basis, we aggressively pursue opportunities to increase the depth of services Ameresco can provide its customers," George P. Sakellaris, Ameresco's founder and chief executive officer, said in a company statement. "With this acquisition our range of renewable energy products and services now extends from large scale photovoltaic and wind development all the way to smaller specialty systems requiring experienced component selection and realistic solutions. The talent and resources from Southwest PV add to our ability to deliver outstanding results and innovative energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions for our customers."

Established in 1986, Southwest PV operates branch offices in Nashville and Denver. The range of application experience within Southwest PV is extensive, with specialties in industrial/commercial applications; transportation; water management and delivery; lighting; grid and off-grid habitation projects; small-scale wind systems; and backup power systems of up to several hundred kilowatts of integrated photovoltaics.
