Wild child George Michael is never too far from controversy. Eight years after being busted for homosexuality by an undercover policeman, the openly gay singer was caught again with his pants down, this time after making out with an unemployed 58-year-old man Norman Kirtland in the notorious Hampstead Heath in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.
The 43-year-old
Wham! singer's pictures were clicked by a
News of the World photographer when at 3 am he came out of the London park after engaging in sexual acts with Kirtland, who he picked up while 'cruising' for men. When he realized his picture had been clicked, Michael yelled at the photographer, “I don't believe it. If you put those pictures in the paper I'll sue! I'm not doing anything illegal. The police don't even come up here any more. I'm a free man, I can do what ever I want. I'm not harming anyone.”
But his longstanding boyfriend Kenny Goss may not agree. Though Goss decided to stand by his lover, he seemed shaken when contacted. “George is not going to say anything today. He has already said what he wants. This is behind us. That is everything we are going to say on the subject. We are getting on with the rest of our lives,” he said.
The two are due to legalize their union through a civil partnership soon.
Meanwhile, Kirtland, on being contacted, said he was surprised to have encountered someone as famous as Michael at the notorious gay pickup area. “I admit I was there for sex. But I'm astonished a man as famous as George should even think about doing it. It's potentially so dangerous,” he said.
The Brighton resident didn't let go of a chance to kiss and tell about Michael's lovemaking skills. “We just started kissing. He did it very well. That was one of his major points. Then it was fondling and mutual pleasuring. It wasn't full sex but it was fantastic. I do have a secret about the time I spent with the man on the Heath, but I would not tell anybody. I would never tell. It is a physical thing and he did not move away. That is all I'm going to say. I couldn't say what it is. Even my friends don't know about it,” Kirkland boasted. The sex may have been great but Kirkland doesn't think much of Michael's music. “I'm not a fan. I prefer soul music myself. I never liked
Wham! or any of his stuff,” he said.
After the report and pictures appeared in
News of the World, Michael slammed them as 'bullshit' but said, “It's nice to know the
News of the World is still so concerned by my well being.” The incident comes shortly after the singer was found slumped on his car wheel stoned on cannabis. Friends feel Michael is headed towards self-destruction. “We're really concerned. It's long been known he's a heavy cannabis user but we're beginning to fear the pot may have affected his mind. He's lost his judgment. He must seek professional help or things could end very badly for him. One day he'll be attacked in one of these dodgy late-night encounters,” a close friend said.
A professional associate of the once-popular singer said Michael refuses to accept he has a problem. “Until George realizes he has a problem there is not a lot we can do. He thinks there is nothing wrong with the odd bit of cannabis use and he also thinks there is nothing wrong with having sex with strangers. As far as he is concerned, that is what gay men do and I don't think this is going to change his habits,” the associate said.
