NEW YORK, June 28 Eighteen lots of Titanic memorabilia, including a handwritten account of the sinking by a 16-year-old passenger, were sold at auction Thursday in New York.

The highest price, $102,000, was paid for the deck log of the S.S. MacKay-Bennett, a cable ship chartered by the White Star Line to look for bodies, The Newark, N.J., Star-Ledger reported.

The items from the Titanic were part of an "Ocean Liner" auction at Christie's. The sale brought in $782,680, with the Titanic memorabilia accounting for $193,000 of that amount.

A private collector paid $16,800 for Laura Marie Cribb's nine-page retelling of the Titanic's maiden voyage, the sinking and the aftermath. More than 1,500 people, including Cribb's father, died when the Titanic sank after colliding with an iceberg near Newfoundland.

Cribb, a Newark resident, was rescued, spending hours in a lifeboat before a rescue ship reached the area. She wrote her account soon afterward.
