The launch of Samsung's Ultra Edition Series today has now given Indians access to the worlds slimmest phone – measuring just 6.9 mm in thickness and weighing 66 grams. It is also loaded with a host of features including an MP3 player, a 2-megapixel camera, an 80 Megabytes memory and the direct TV out Function.
The first model of this series is 'The Ultra Edition 6.9', the world's slimmest bar phone ever to be launched, priced at Rs 16,499. It comprises of special fiberglass re-infused plastic, to give greater durability and to protect the features that have been packed into this slim handset using the SSMT - Smart Surface Mounting Technology.
The other two models which will be launched next month - 'The Ultra Edition 9.9 (D830)' and 'The Ultra Edition 12.9 (D900)' take the prize for being the world's slimmest clamshell phone and slimmest slider phone. These contain uMenu and uSearch features for easier navigation and the Ultra Edition 12.9 (D900)'s camera is an advanced 3.13-megapixel one. The 262K color screen has animated graphics indicating call status, messages received and other alerts. The piece is also Bluetooth equipped for greater convenience and connectivity.
The senior vice President of Samsung, Ihn-Chul Chung, claimed that Samsung has initiated an aggressive world-wide strategy which aims to make the company lead in the cellular phone market. He sees India as a big part of this growth program and has elaborated that the company intends to meet the Indian demand of sleek, light phones, packed with advanced features and yet simple to use.
The series was unveiled by Dia Mirza, the famous Bollywood actress and is available through Samsung's 12,000 country-wide outlets, as confirmed by Asim Warsi, Deputy General Manager, Marketing.
