London - Gordon Brown Wednesday became Britain's new prime minister taking over from Tony Blair who held power for 10 years. Brown, 56, was formally handed the seals of office by Queen Elizabeth II at an audience in Buckingham Palace in London. He is expected to appoint a new cabinet Thursday.
