LOS ANGELES: Game maker Electronic Arts Inc. revealed it is developing six games for Nintendo Co. Ltd's soon-to-be launched Wii video game console.
Electronic Arts said a dedicated development team is working on new versions of its football game, Madden NFL and racing game Need for Speed. Other games exclusively for Wii are Harry Potter, Tiger Woods PGA Tour, SSX and The Godfather.
The company said the new games would offer features that go with Wii's exclusive controller that lets players to simulate swinging a bat, a golf club or a wizard's wand, which is a USP for the console.
Electronic Arts' general manager of North American publishing Frank Gibeau said developing games for Wii appears to be less expensive than for Microsoft's Xbox 360 or Sony's PlayStation 3 as the latter devices offer high-definition graphics.
He said Wii's controller will offer unmatched gaming experiences for the users. For example, they can use the controller in the football game Madden to experience the motion of snapping or passing the ball.
Electronic Arts said more games are under development.
The company is also coming out with a new role-playing game, The Lord of the Rings, The White Council, for Xbox 360 and PlayStation3 consoles in later 2007.
While Xbox 360 has come in the market in November 2005, Wii and PlayStation3 are due for launch later this year.
The company said it will introduce some 20 titles for 11 different gaming systems during the holidays. It is also planning to integrate real-time content from sports network ESPN into its sports games.
