MOSCOW, June 24 A new museum in Moscow is attempting to draw in tourists by offering them a taste of the Cold War fears that once gripped most of the world.

The Confrontation Cold War Museum not only features physical memories of the long-fought ideological struggle between Russia and the United States, but its tour guides attempt to draw visitors into the mystique of that fearful era, the Los Angeles Times said Sunday.

"Please don't split away from the group," guide Alexei Alexandrov recently told tourists visiting the former nuclear bomb shelter, "or you may get lost in the dark and end up shot by a guard by mistake." Making the museum more poignant in today's world is the recent diplomatic saber-rattling between the two world powers regarding a proposed U.S. missile system in Europe.

Those behind the museum said the goal of the tourist locale is not simply to shock visitors, but to remind people of the past mistakes of the international community, the Times said.
