A happily married life continues to elude supermodel Christie Brinkley. After 10 years of marriage, the model and her fourth husband, architect Peter Cook, have gone their separate ways, her publicist Elliot Mintz said. The two share an 8-year-old daughter, Sailor Lee, and Brinkley is the mother of two other children, a 20-year-old daughter Alexa and an 11-year-old son Jack from her earlier marriages. Jack was adopted by Cook when they married in 1996.
“Her immediate concern is for her children, and she's hoping during this obviously difficult time that people will be kind enough to respect her privacy,” Mintz said. Fifty-two-year-old Brinkley has seen tremendous success in her career, having been a model for
Cover Girl cosmetics for 20 years. In her 30 years of modeling, she has appeared on over 500 magazines. Brinkley recently renewed her ties with
Cover Girl when she signed a contract with them in 2005 to model for a cosmetic line for mature skin. Besides this, she is also an activist for People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and other social causes.
Brinkley's earlier marriages include one to French painter Jean-Francois Allaux, another to singer Billy Joel and the third to real estate magnate Richard Taubman. Alexa's biological father is Joel and Jack's Taubman.
