Pop star Britney Spears refuses to stop making news. After being slammed in the media for her baby skills, the songstress is now channeling her efforts into getting some good publicity by posing pregnant and nude on the cover of
Harper's Bazaar magazine, a la Demi Moore.
The photograph, by Alexi Lubomirski, has Spears covering her breasts with her palms and crossing her legs to hide other strategic parts. The pregnant singer has also posed for photographs and the center spread inside the magazine. In one of the photos, her son Sean Preston poses with her. The shots have 24-year-old Spears in her new brunette avatar. A massive necklace adorns her collar bone in the cover photo.
According to media reports, the singer is contemplating going to her hometown Kentwood in Louisiana for the birth of her second child. “She wants to come home. She's building more rooms for her growing family. She wants a nursery and some kids,” said Harold Smith, Kentwood's mayor.
In a magazine interview, Spears, confirming her second pregnancy, said she was 'very surprised' to find she was pregnant again, but was happy because 'being a mom is one of the most sacred things there is'.
This follows her emotional and somewhat disheveled interview in
Dateline NBC, where she told host Matt Lauer all was well with her marriage to Kevin Federline. She also asked the media to stop slamming her and her parenting skills. But the television appearance dipped her popularity further, a survey by a prominent celeb mag found out.
The nude cover shoot might help restore some of the glory the pop star enjoyed in her heydays.
Harper's said this was the first time 'it had printed a nude photo on its cover' and was happy it had done that because the songstress 'was never more beautiful'. Like with most secret photo shoots these days, this one too made its way to the Internet, following which the magazine released the cover photo officially. “Since word leaked out about the shoot on Monday, people have been desperate to get their hands on the exclusive photos which were posted on various Web sites without permission from the magazine,” a spokesperson said. The photographs inside will remain under wraps till the issue hits the stands on July 25.
