Ahrensburg, Germany - Two new laptop series from Acer will offer customers fast performance and even a look inspired by the Ferrari race car. The flat and light housing of the new notebooks adopt the Ferrari moniker and are meant to mimic the best attributes of the famous marque, say designers from Acer.

Acer's Ferrari 1000 will sport a 12.1-inch display, a 2 gigahertz processor, and weigh a mere 1.8 kilos. The larger Ferrari 5000 will offer a 15.4-inch widescreen display and weigh 3 kilos.

Both Acer Ferraris are built on a 64-bit architecture. The price of the 1000-series model is expected to be about 2,300 dollars (1,705 euros), while the 5000 should be available for about 3,000 dollars.
